The Faber series (using all 4 books - Theory, Technique and Artistry, Lesson, and Performance) are by far my favorite curriculum for older beginner students. The reason I don't give 5 stars is that 1) .com does not display them together and it is VERY hard to find all 4 of the right level. It is NOT user-friendly. To the point that I ordered one set, took them to a local music store and asked them to carry it because parents could rarely get the right books without my assistance.2). There is a British version and and American version. Some students have received one, some the other. In the US, we use different words for rhythm. For example: our quarter note is a "crotchet" in Great Britain. That's awkward to explain to a 12 year old boy!
As an adult beginner piano student, I don't want to be playing "Mary Had a Little Lamb." This book provides me with music that sounds great for a beginner. They are easy to play but not so cutesy. Almost all the pieces are duets with the teacher. When we play together, I sound like a pro. This book works in conjunction with all the other Accelerated Piano Adventures books to coordinate the skills with the piece. It's a great way to learn piano.
The Faber Accelerated books for Older learners are wonderful. The pace is fast enough to be interesting for someone like me, who listens to a lot of classical and jazz music. The song selections are pretty, sometimes even beautiful -- rare in a book for beginners.
I teach piano to my grandchildren ages 7 and 10. They like this publication and find it non-intimidating. The 10 year old just finished the last piece in the book and was very proud to play it to his parents. The book may be a little easy for him but it gives him some fun and relaxing pieces to play. You can't just have challenging pieces or they will loose interest. Practice must be fun and rewarding.
Super fast delivery of product. This is a great beginner book for older piano learners. My son is almost 10 and he is cruising through the lessons. It keeps him interested and challenged.
I purchased the series of Accelerated Piano Adventures for the Older Beginner, Level 1. Easy to understand, but challenging. Just what I wanted to help me learn to play the piano.

My son is 9 years old.The songs are so catchy and lovely that he practiced all the songs by himself, without any teaching.I'm very happy to find a material that motivates him and makes the practice very enjoyable.
