If you've been through medical school or deal closely with someone who has, you'll identify with many of the situations described in the stories in this book. And if you're not, you'll still enjoy the sometimes dark humor that goes along with becoming and being a doctor.

Frieda McFadden has compiled and contributed to a hysterical collection of medical stories, some more fictional than others. The contributors hold a wide variety of medical professions and each bring their own slant to what goes on behind the scenes. McFadden's own stories in the book continue in the light witty style of her previous works, "Baby City," "The Devil Wears Scrubs" and "Suicide Med." Her books are always enjoyable, quick reads. I thoroughly enjoyed this one. The fact that profits will be contributed to charity sweetens the deal. Check out this book!
A nice little collection of short stories from a variety of authors. Some stories are a bit more fictionalized than others -- you'll see what I mean, especially when you get to the bird story. It's all in good fun though. Also, in case you missed it in the description, all profit benefits Deworm the World (look it up). So check it out!One thing to know ahead of time that there are a few stories that are republished blog posts. Most of the collection is original writing for this book specifically, though.
Read a few to my mother who has a medical background and now in a nursing home. I had to do this privately since some of the stories were a bit vulgar, gross and rude. I would not recommend this. So far haven't found much in the way of hysterical stories.
I ordered this for my iPad and was so happy I did. It is fun or touching or downright hilarious tales from medical professionals and perfectly written. I spent a massive amount of time in the hospital with my dad last year and downloaded this for the relatable content. I shared with a couple nurses and they loved it too.
11 out of 10 is a book of short stories edited and partially written by frieda mcfadden and others. The stories vary in content from laugh out loud funny to weird and even sad. You will laugh and learn from all of them and find them highly interesting. There are stories focusing on the doctor including milestones such as the first day of medical school and becoming a resident, difficult calls such as the exhausting call and a scary weird call. There are various stories by different specialties including surgeons, very funny pediatrician who tells jokes and a psychiatrist who carries a gun. Other stories focus on the patient such as the patient who is hypersensitive to pain, for which the book is named, the 11 out of 10 patient. There are also stories from nurses and other allied health professions.The stories are illuminate the lives of medical personnel and their patients. In addition to being instructive and just plain funny, 100% of the proceeds from this book will be donated to charity.
I really enjoyed this book. Since it was a collection of different stories, I was able to pick a story at night when I had just finished a book but didn't have time to start a new book. This was very enjoyable laugh out loud book that occasionally had me shaking my head at people. Very well written.
