This book should be prerequisite for every drummer, starting with book 1 of course. It will separate the wannabes from the serious student wanting to play drums. These two books were terrific in 1964 and they are even better now. Buying someone a drum set on a whim usually ends up with drums in the attack or stored in the basement. Drilling a student through these books leads drummers to very fine drum set skills. Drummers like Dennis Chambers, without ever having a drum lesson, are the exception rather than the rule. If a beginner is for real, he will devour these two books, fast! I have found this to be true learning drums and teaching drums.
Harr does a nice job following up book one with this one. With book one having 13 rudiments book two covers the next 13 with challenging solos and exercises. You play from these two books and you have a great start. I feel rudimentally these two books are tops. Great books to teach out of
