This is both quaint and pretty up-to-date(19991), scholarly and very accessible- all these things. Subtitle is Historia and Usos and there is plenty of history, ethnobotanical information and illustrations for the fruits and photos for recipes. She is a very clear writer and the Spanish is easily readable (maybe looking up a few words) for someone with intermediate level Spanish ( or an enthusiastic beginner). Clara Ines Olaya was a Columbian writer, unfortunately no longer with us. Her knowledge, research and love for her subject has left us a great gift, I absolutely love this book. (There is a smaller PB, Tropical only however, that is charming, but it is not on the scale of this one.)
