As a law student, I found that my classes did not prepare me very well for taking depositions later on. I think this is a flaw in the legal education, especially considering the fact that many associates will not even get to see the inside of a courtroom for at least the first five years of their careers. Many associates will write motions and will get to take the occasional deposition. When my professor recommended this book, I thought it was going to be another "textbook," but was pleasantly surprised to find that it gives great examples for deposition outlines, and touches upon objections that may be made during the deposition as well as when they ought to be made. Overall, I find this to be a very helpful book that is truly useful to the new associate.
