This book which in fact is a true story is a brilliant piece of mastery, promises made to Princeton university by a couple who believed that their dream could be fulfilled that students would earn free intense graduate level education in public administration so that they could then take it back to their own country. Its a story of how the family took Princeton University and the administration to civil court for wasting the donation.
Terrific book with quick shipping.
Great book! All development officers should read this!
This is essentially a Robertson-funded vanity inspired rationale for a hugely expensive (lawyer fees in the millions)lawsuit. The imaginary letter from beyond the grave is ludicrous.
Doug White has done a masterful job of combining meticulous research with an important story well told. Robertson v. Princeton ought to be of importance to every charitable donor, students of organizational culture and the citizenry at large. White has - quite literally - brought to life a story that heretofore has been largely confined to specialized niches in the nonprofit sector and legal community. As he's done in his previous books, White brings the facts from both sides of the table to the forefront, draws some important conclusions for the reader to consider and sends the reader away hungering for even more knowledge about a nonprofit sector that claims 10% of the US workforce and 5.5% of GDP. I strongly recommend this work.
This is not a review of this book; just a comment that there is a very good book that does not seem to be included in 's recommendations for other books looked at by customers: that is, "The Great Philanthropists and the Problem of Donor Intent" by Martin Morse Wooster. It is on . It should be better known than it is.
