Four stars for only one reason: The orchestral score, with corrections, is printed so small that one almost needs a magnifying glass to spot the changes. (Yes, there's a listing, but it would be convenient to SEE the changes clearly.)This book contains helpful analyses of both the first and second movement and offers plenty of supporting material regarding speculation as to WHY the symphony is unfinished. (I won't give away any spoilers...)It grinds my gears that we still don't have a clean performing edition of this work. The 1996 Barenreiter printing clears up some issues, but still leaves many confusing notational issues in the score. This book will help in clearing up some textual inaccuracies, but doesn't address everything.Either way, this is a very helpful book for the student/conductor/fan of this work.
