This book was extremely helpful in my Law Ethics Class. It clearly outlines the information and contains interesting facts to help retain the information. Never have I read a law text book, that was so explicit. I plan on keeping this book for future references in the rest of my career.
I am using this book to teach an online school law course. The book is wonderful. It is a good balance of rigor (with case excerpts and legal principles) and accessibility (for those taking the course that are not lawyers). I appreciate the thoughtfulness that Dr. Dayton infuses into his explanation of the history and concepts behind legal principles. Great summaries at the end of each chapter.
The book was written for people who work in the educational field, but it is an amazingly helpful resource for anyone with an interest in educational law. I imagine that even lawyers who are new to the field would find it very helpful.
I coordinate psychological services for a school system. This book is an excellent tool for understanding the letter and spirit of the law in order to make decisions regarding individual student situations in our county. I work for a system in Georgia so I use Dayton's Georgia Education Law book as well. Easy to use and practical.
This book is full of substance and yet so easy to read! Dr. Dayton does such a great job of being thorough, and I really enjoyed reading the book. It's a must-read if you are in education, but I also definitely recommend it if you are just interested in the law generally!
Dr. Dayton's work (Education Law: Principles, Policies, and Practices) is a great resource for any professional educator. The book is effectively organized to include chapters on the laws and issues which school personnel need to readily understand; furthermore, each chapter includes relevant examples and clear explanations of the laws. The content and organization of this book make this a resource that any school administrator should gladly keep on his/her bookshelf.
A very informative read! The case studies mentioned served as valuable references for me as I learned more about education laws and policies. This will be a valuable resource for anyone in the field of education.
Dr. Dayton offers a clear, practical guide for everyone from the education undergraduate to the last year law student. This extensive and meticulous body of work is a must have! I especially loved the principles to practice portions where readings and theories come to life. Great for building knowledge through discussion.
