For a $3 purchase on kindle, this was an excellent buy. In school we are reading Shakespeare, and I was having trouble understanding what I was reading. This book is a great translation of the original text and I will be purchasing more if they come up.If you are still hestitant, consider the old translation versus this translation.Old translation -Sampson : "Gregory, o' my word, we'll not carry coals."Gregory : "No, for then we should be colliers."Sampson : "I mean, an we be in choler, we'll draw."Gregory : "Ay, where you live, draw your neck out o' the collar."Sampson : "I strike quickly, being moved."This translation -Sampson : "I swear, Gregory, we will not stand by and be treated like servants."Gregory : "We are servants, you fool."Sampson : "I mean, if they want to fight, I'm ready."Gregory : "They only thing you will fight is the death penalty."Sampson : "I will fight in a minute, if someone messes with me."This is a great buy for anybody who needs Shakespeare help.
It's very hard for me to read old English, and I've always wanted to read this play. So I decided to suck it up and look for it on . Then when I saw this... Thank the Lord! Now I can easily read and enjoy this classsic.

This was required reading for my daughters English Honors class, and it really helped her understand the book. On each page there were two columns, one in Shakespeare's words, and the other column of the same page it was written in plain understandable English. I would recommend this to anyone (like me) who has a hard time understanding the language from that time period.
I'm using this with my 9th graders. It's great because I have some who really prefer to read Shakespeare in the original language and the side by side allows for the differentiation I need. The language is very modern and understandable.
Daughter using the book while reading this in her English class and she is understanding the modern translation much better and is actually enjoying this read. A must have for anyone struggling with Shakespeare's writings.
I love this translate the normal Romeo and Juilet that was $6.95 and is now $0.99 that one I also bought. ( I wrote a review there too.) That one was a little hard to understand.This one was good text and print. O I reccomend more than the ninty nine cent ones to this because this one includes the new version, the version that price cutted down to $0.99 and a translated version if you did understand the original.
Bought this for my teenage boy, who doesn't find Shakespeare's language to be poetic enough to struggle through. While I hope he will learn to appreciate it, this book really helped him understand the story of Romeo and Juliet, and was especially useful as a "translator".
