Simply the most concise piece history of the Korean War. Informative to the point where the reader could not stop reading it to the end. The appendices are worth the reviewing for that added punch. Great work!
I spent 16 months and 28 days in Korea during the war and always wonder why the war. This book explains may of the prevailing theories of the war. It also deal with the world attitude at the time. This book is hard to put down and take a break. I am going to look for more books by this writer.
The book The Korean War: History in an Hour provided an excellent summary of the war. I found the appendices to be quite helpful while reading the book. The book took a little over an hour for me to read but the book was very engrossing, and I even read the appendices. The thoroughness of this book persuaded me to buy the book 1066 history in an hour. I will read other books from this author.
Short, concise, and surprisingly entertaining I would recommend this book to all those who want to learn about the Korea War without having to dive into a monster of a book. Even if you do plan to someday read a thicker book about the Korea War (as I probably will), this book is still a good intro. The only issue I personally had (albeit a small one) is that the book claimed that the US 'ended' the Chinese Civil War. Technically this is not true as the war has never technically ceased (and could still someday flare up... Just as with the two Koreas). The two sides still don't recognize each other and still claim to be the legitimate Chin, although there has been some thawing of late.
It was my war but I served here in the USAThis filled in the gaps which I did not know aboutI did serve with a combat veteran who went from the Yalu river to. the 38th during the Chinese offense
This war happened over 60 years ago and it's good to get a refresher on how it all started and why, especially when we have loved ones that were involved.
I was disappointed in our politicians that they would not let General Douglas MacArthur use every option available to him to bring the war to a speedy conclusion--I lost many good friends from the 1st Marine Division because of their actions.Charles Lindberg Ogle
Before this I was clueless to the Korean War. This short book gave me a lot of valuable information and a good start to learning about the war.
