This book talks about the Egyptian gods and goddesses - from minor household figures such as Bes and Taweret to the all-powerful deities Amun and Rethat made Egypt the most completely theocratic society of the ancient world, and made Egyptians, according to Herodotus, "more religious than any other people." I love history and most especially Egyptian gods and goddesses for the lives of pharaohs and commoners alike were dominated by the need to honor, worship, and pacify the huge pantheon of deities. And I really like the tomb they created, the pyramid and everything else. To learn about the Egyptian gods and goddesses is fantastic!"DISCLAIMER: I read a copy of this book and I will share my unbiased review.”
If you need a handy dictionary of Ancient Egyptian deities, this is the one to get. It gives the basic information on most of the important gods and goddesses. It presents all those worshipped at some point in Ancient Egyptian history. The information of each god and goddess given include the deity's attributes, such as sceptres, crowns and animal form. Illustrated with a few black and white illustrations, it is a most useful reference for students of Egyptology and mythology.
I have always been fascinated by gods and goddesses and how their stories were told and passed on form generations. It is such an amazing thing to be one of the super natural beings that ever existed here on Earth. This book is informative at the same time comprehensible in handing out information. I should comment that there is no table of contents for easy navigation of the pages but I think it is not that important owing to the books few pages.
I like this book because it takes what might normally be boring for most people and brings it to life. Egyptian history doesn't have to be boring. When you start learning more about their gods and goddesses, you begin to see the deep riches to be found in their wonderful contribution to history. This book is a must read for anyone who wants to learn more! I am sure you will find this book just as interesting as I did, plus you will learn a ton.
The book was a very general one covering the basic gods of Egypt, but not in any particular detail. It didn't look at how the myths connected the gods to the cycles of the universe as the Egyptians did, and was basically a decent, intermediate introduction to the gods. If you want to know more detail, look for Wilkinson's The Complete Gods and Goddesses of Ancient Egypt, which is a more scholarly tome.
After watching movies about Egyptian Gods and Goddesses i feel in love immediately about them especially the story the depicts their every characters and ho powerful they are and this is the reason that i grab this book immediately and upon reading this book it never fails to amaze me knowing more about Egyptian Gods it has so much information that helps me to understand them more!
This has been such an interesting read for me. I am always a lover of mythology, the gods, and the goddesses. And what got hooked to the Egyptian Gods is the fact that they were worshiped for over three-fifths of recorded history and this alone made them so fascinating. And this book has been so comprehensive. I am able to read on a lot of new stuff about the Egyptian gods and goddesses, minor to the major ones. And reading about them is always full of learning and enjoyment, at least for me. Ancient Egypt is, and will always be the topic of great interest for me. This book obviously is a product of an intensive research.
Egyptian mythology has perpetually been a noteworthy and interesting subject and that I got this book in an exceedingly promotion with a reduced worth, I started reading it quickly and colud be a superb introduction to all or any this with its nice mysteries and curiosities and it's not therefore easy to grasp instantly, however I managed to be told regarding the pharaohs, kings and Queens of Egypt.
