This is a great edition that corrects many errors found in the original Durand & Fils (1931) score.For example, at the 10th and 12th bars, the triangle is supposed to be playing with the harp and the strings (on beats 2 and 4, and 2 and 3, respectively). The old Durand score indicates silence at bar 10, and translates bar 10 to bar 12, making the triangle sounding totally incongruous. And that's what you hear being played on numerous recordings.In this nice edition, Arbie Orenstein includes all Garban's corrections, and for remaining problematic passages, he referred to other sources, like the recording of Marguerite Long's interpretation of the concerto (conducted with Ravel's supervision and approbation).The chef of our orchestra, looking at my score (I play percussion), asked me if he could keep it. So I am buying a second one.

This is my favorite piece, and I adore being able to finally play it!
