"Don Quijote de la Mancha" es una novela escrita por el español Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra. Publicada su primera parte con el título de "El ingenioso hidalgo don Quijote de la Mancha" a comienzos de 1605, es la obra más destacada de la literatura española y universal, además de ser la más publicada y traducida de la historia después de la Biblia. Su segunda parte apareció en 1615 con el título de "El ingenioso caballero don Quijote de la Mancha". Es la primera obra genuinamente desmitificadora de la tradición caballeresca y cortés por su tratamiento burlesco. Representa la primera novela moderna y la primera polifónica; como tal, ejerció un enorme influjo en toda la narrativa europea.Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra (Alcalá de Henares, 29 de septiembre de 1547 - Madrid, 22 de abril de 1616) fue un soldado, novelista, poeta y dramaturgo español. Es considerado la máxima figura de la literatura española y es universalmente conocido por haber escrito "Don Quijote de la Mancha".

Este libro es una maravilla. Recuerdo que siempre me ponían a leerlo en mis clases de Español cuando estaba en el colegio, y le daba largas porque no me gustaba. Es cierto que el lenguaje es un poco antiguo, pero la historia aquí contada es tan ingeniosa que supera con creces todo lo que yo haya conocido. Ahora que encontré esta edición para Kindle, me puse a leerlo de nuevo y es fascinante.Esta edición digital me gusta por varias razones. La primera es que es directa, no tiene gran introducción y el lector puede comenzar a leer las aventuras desde el primer momento. El índice funciona bien, aunque en el lector para computadora se ve un poco extraño, pero logra su cometido. Tiene además las cartas iniciales en donde se especifica la tasa del libro, acompañada de la carta del rey y de varios poemas muy interesantes.No puedo decir más. Un clásico.¡Y pensar que fue escrito hace unos 400 años!

This review is for the Susaeta edition of Quijote. While it is a pretty book, color pictures, it is incomplete. It only has 28 of the 52 chapters for book 1, and 27 of the 74 chapters of book 2. Apparently this is a children's version, but has it listed with the standard version of the book. My biggest complaint is that has them all grouped together, so I thought I was getting a different version with a hard back cover. The reason I'm giving it 2 stars is because screwed up, not the publisher or seller. This book needs to be listed completely separately other version with a description that says it is an abridged version for children.Este libro es la versión de Susaeta para niños. No es la versión completo. Sólo tiene 28 de los 52 capítulos del primer libro y 27 de los 74 capítulos del segundo. ha puesto esta versión con las demás versiones y necesita separarlas. Tiene dibujos bonitos en color, pero debe decir en la descripción que es una versión abreviada.

This classic contains many antiquated words, therefore an abridged audio book version was welcome. Unfortunately, this production has flaws that prompted me to give up three quarters into it. Firstly, such a heavily abridged version should have concentrated on the main story, i.e. the adventures of Don Quijote and Sancho Panza, rather than get bogged in the many secondary stories. For instance, it contains too much of the soap-opera-like story of Don Fernando and Luscinda, while the episode where Don Quijote frees the convicts is only hinted at. In many places there are such gaps in the telling of these digressive secondary tales that you get lost. Replacing ancient word forms ("formosura") by their modern equivalents ("hermosura") was a good idea but why not do so throughout instead of only in the beginning? In fact there is a drop in quality towards the end and the undisputed talent of the speakers was wasted when they kept reading out sentences in an intonation out of step with their meaning ; or when they rendered whole sentences unintelligible by missing words (verbs, prepositions etc.). Had the speakers got bored with their job in the end? Were they running out of time or out of budget?

I bought this book for my middle school native and advanced Spanish speakers. This is one of my favorite books and it is definitely written at a middle school level. There are some words that are annotated, per chapter, and it helps students understand what they're reading. It also helps to teach the preterite vs. imperfect.

No se puede esperar más de esta gran edición. Los estudios sobre el Quijote que esta edición incluye son esenciales aunque no suficientes a la hora de abarcar una obra tan compleja y vigente (es decir, este libro nos motiva, además, a leer más SOBRE él). Buen glosario, buen papel, buenos pies de página. Además de eso, acerca de la obra per se, no se puede discutir su calidad y universalidad.

Es una versión bien escrita. Hasta donde la he leído, está hecha con esmero.Algunas cuestiones de formato (como no dejar espacio entre capítulos), que son realmente irrelevantes.

If you want to know what "tilting at windmills" meals and where the saying comes from, read this classic. Teaches you about the culture of chivalry that existed when this was written It is not just reading it is an experience and part of a classical education. If you can read this in the original Spanish it is even better, but read it even if you read it in English.

Bought this book as a favor for someone else but after I got it didn't want to give it to the person (it was a gift for her stepson). I really love books and this one has the right amount of written of lines and pictures for introducing kids into the wonderful worl of reading. Great value for the price.
