I became interested in Pushkin's writings after learning on a recent trip to St Petersburg, Russia, about how revered he is there. This volume of 6 works seemed to be a good introduction--a couple of his famous plays, as well as some of the poetry. I have to say, it was tough going. I've read Russian writers before and enjoyed them, but I think the Kindle format got in the way, in this case (disruptive footnote placement, as well as awkward formatting.) In addition, one of the plays was repeated twice, for no apparent reason. If you're really interested in Pushkin, you might want to try a more user-friendly version.

This is probably the best Pushkin collection available on Kindle. I would have liked to give it 5 stars, but the navigation is clunky, like so many of these classic collections.

It's not a good version. It's difficult to know what you're reading, commentary or content. And it's hard to navigate around the volume. If this is your introduction to Pushkin, it'll ruin your experience.

Strangely, the "six works" in this collection is actually five, with a single story repeated twice. This is a bizarre way to package a digital volume. Surely readers of Pushkin can count to five?Beyond the cheat of claiming there are six works here, Pushkin is a great writer. He's better with his poetry than with his stories, but I did like "Marie" a great deal. (However, the paranormal Queen of Spades is a few notches below Edgar Allan Poe's standard.)Still, Pushkin is definitely worth reading and not just for classic Russian lit completists.

Each story has a little twist in it.The queen of spades was great.I did not expect sci-fi and super natural type stories in such an old book form Russia.
