I first bought this book about 15 years ago. It made a huge impression on me then when I didn't know much about uniforms, and it is still a great resource today now that I am a uniform collector. The painted images of soldiers of all the major armies of World War II are vivid and interesting. The text is informative and thorough. Of particular use are charts that detail rank insignia for all the various armies.

This is the DEFINITIVE reference book on the uniforms of WWII. Mollo carefully explains his terms and illustrates them in this handy, well-organized work. Individual illustrations of patches, epaulets and weapons are complemented by contemporary, hand-colored photographs of a wide variety of uniforms. Excellent!

This magnificent book not only illustrates the uniforms and accoutrements of all major armed forces (and then some) involved in this great conflict, but it also breaks down the various armies in general, their organizational structures, facts and figures, and to supplement the wonderful color artwork are many black and white photographs capturing the period. This is one work that is hard to put down!!!!!

The Armed Forces of World War II: Uniforms, Insignia and Organization is simply the bible of WWII military uniforms. This is a wonderful and fascinating book. The illustrations bring the variety of these uniforms to life. It covers the major combatants and even the less obscure forces and I find this totally fascinating from I suppose an artistic standpoint. Captivating stuff here and thoroughly engrossing. Of the highest quality. Andrew Mollo cornered the market in this area and his work, knowledge and his visual eloquence on the subject is quite evident.

Great book! I love how it shows the ranks of the various military's even those who are considered more obscure participants in the war. I however was disappointed, by the lack of information about the SS. I believe there are only two examples of them in the entire book. If it had not been for this, this book would have received five stars form me.

Good images of men-at-arms during world war 2. Explains organizations of armies, navies, and air forces of belligerents in each theater of the war. Uniforms are discussed as well as insignia for the various ranks. This is a good reference for basic militaria used during the war
