Classical Symphony, Op. 25, In Full Score (Dover Music Scores)

Prokofiev's first symphony, which he mischievously dubbed "Classical," is a sprightly piece based on the symphonic models of Haydn. "I thought that if Haydn were alive today he would compose just as he did before, but at the same time would include something new in his manner of composition," Prokofiev remarked. "I wanted to compose such a symphony: a symphony in the classical style."The composer's synthesis of twentieth harmonies and timbres with eighteenth-century structure and form has captivated audiences since its premiere in 1918. This is Prokofiev's most frequently performed symphonic work, and this edition is meticulously reproduced from an authoritative early source.

The "Classical Symphony" is one of the most known and most performed works of the russian master Sergei Prokofiev. The work is an important label in his production, in his life history, and in modern music. This edition is very well designed, both to study and performance. Specialy remarkable is the quality of the paper. This edition is a great addition in every personal music library for professionals and amateurs.

print quality is ok however it does not lay flat on a stand or table so forget trying to conduct or study the piece hands-free.

Classical Symphony by ProkofievIt was exactly what I needed. Well set out easy to follow. Good size for a study score.

used like new¡ Fantastic

I needed several orchestral scores from the Impressionistic period to study instrumentation. These scores by Debussy are perfect for this project.
