I am buying this book for all of my research assistants, it is an excellent starting point for delving into the subject of Mesoamerica. Allowing them to find where to start looking on the subject. The listings in the back of picture sources will allow them to go on from there to dig into what is known by the museums and universities holding the items associated with the entries to get the full story behind them.
This is like two books in one. First, it's a coffee-table book with a ton of really interesting full-color illustrations, but secondly, it's a very comfortable full-scope history book for South America - good readable history which is not too scholastic to enjoy, but not "dumbed-down" either.I Bought this book when "The True History of Chocolate" got me interested to know more about South American history, and this is exactly the book I was looking for - wish I could find similar this good for other regions of the world!
Binding was pretty bad shape. The book is a big one didn't expect it to be in that bad shape. But the book itself is just wonderful.
Excellent quality. It covers both civilizations very well.
