This set is overall just ok. It comes with two CDs, one with the full version including soloist, the other with two versions--one at "normal" tempo and the other at -20% tempo for practice, both are without soloist. Unfortunately, the performance with soloist (Lawson) is somewhat tepid, although I am accustomed to Rostropovich. So I would definitely NOT use this performance as a standard. The other negative is the quality of the accompaniment, which is in places very poor, particularly in the -20% section. It is clear that MMO simply slowed the recording down and digitally enhanced to maintain the pitch, which leaves some distortion behind. Again, this is really not that big of a deal, as the goal here is to use that as a practice tempo until technique is up to par. Apart from these criticisms, MMO did a great job dividing this great concerto at appropriate places for practical purposes--on the CDs, each movement is divided in a few locations for ease of navigation while learning. These divisions are appropriately placed and marked in the sheet music as well. Another nice feature is tapping with tempo changes--the conductor taps out a few beats with each change in tempo, which is very nice for practice. Overall, not a bad product, though it probably costs a bit more than it's worth.
