Shortly after Elizabeth Bennet refuses Fitzwilliam Darcy’s offer of marriage, he becomes convinced her reproofs were correct and determines to become worthy of her love. His attempt to arrange a “chance” meeting is successful and they cross paths in London. Soon afterwards, Darcy sails for Virginia to retrieve his newly widowed cousin, who has found herself stranded in a country on the verge of war with her native land. Once there, he suspects her sights are set on him as her next mate. Even worse, his journal—which details his feelings about Elizabeth—is accidentally posted to Elizabeth. Can he return to England, convince her he has taken her opinions to heart, and win her love before she receives it? The impulsive Elizabeth Bennet is injured while touring a Derbyshire estate with her aunt and uncle, and circumstances find her at the home of Georgiana Darcy while she recuperates. While there, Elizabeth realizes she is in love with Darcy, but will he arrive home and assume the worst about her after finding her living at his estate?

Wendy is certainly one of the better JAFF authors in my opinion. She has just enough angst to worry us and enough love and humor to satisfy us. Although I felt the angst in this one was minimal.The "lesson hard learned" is learned by both Elizabeth and Darcy. The story has them encounter each other in London before Elizabeth takes her journey with the Gardiners to Derbyshire. By their meeting, everything from the infamous proposal has not necessarily been forgotten, but re evaluated and our favorite couple has forgiven each other, if not themselves. They have a meeting that certainly leaves hope for the future. Until circumstances (and Darcy's relatives) threaten to pull them apart.I won't go over the synopsis because you can read it and get plenty of information. So I'll just dive right in to my thoughts. I was honestly expecting more out of the Lady Bianca storyline. She was such a nuisance to Darcy on the return voyage to London I really thought she would do more to get him engaged to HER instead of Elizabeth. But it kind of fizzled out and I was left wanting more haha.As for Elizabeth being at Pemberley when Darcy arrives, I was certainly captivated by their encounters and Lizzy reading the journal that was accidentally sent to her by Darcy and their subsequent second proposal. It was all very sweet and with moments that bordered on spicy.I also greatly enjoyed the growing friendship between Georgiana and Lizzy. It really set the tone for Darcy's arrival and then Lady Catherine and Caroline Bingley's interference. For once you weren't scared for Lizzy and knew she'd be okay on her own and with the support of the rest of Darcy's family.If I had to nit pick on one more thing it would be the rushed ending.
