This book is a compilation of step-by-step instructions for how to build nine different types of catapults and trebuchets, including plans for: A PVC Pipe Trebuchet, A Tabletop Trebuchet, The World Famous Floating Arm Trebuchet, The Historical WarWolf Trebuchet, A Rat-Trap Catapult, The Mangonel (or Onager), The Greek Ballista, a Petraria Arcatinus And the Scorpion II. Each set of instructions include dimensional drawings of all wooden parts, lists of required hardware and sources, an abundance of photos, diagrams and detailed descriptions of the assembly process. Additional sections include historical notes for the different types of machines, warnings and safety suggestions, tuning tips, notes on scaling, tools and techniques and additional notes on even more kinds of catapults.

The Editor should be shot. Blueprint objects rarely align or even relate in any way to the blow up pics (if any). Just seems to be a collection of pictures, blueprints and assembly instructions that do not include all the parts, with absolutely no direct correlation between description, blueprint, pics. No two of the included Catapults are even in the same layout. Really frustrating to use. I suppose the only real value here is some pictures of apparently working models.
Was excited to receive this book in preparation for building a trebuchet , only to find that it's only useful for building small scale models. Therefore found it useless - the cover is deceiving. My advise - don't try to find a book - just review some picks on the web and try to locate a website written by a chunkin junkie and start building.
The plans are pretty easy to follow unless you are a complete moron and lets be honest, if you are you should not own this book. My only negative is that all the plans are for pretty small devices. I scaled the one I have built so far up and it works good but I would have liked to have seen some of these plans for larger machines.
The book meet my needs, but it is missing key measurements and material descriptions. I figured it out by trail and error. Also, I built the table top trebuchet with my middle school class.
I love this book! Clear concise instructions on exactly how to settle neighborhood disputes. The plans are easy to follow, the material is relevant and the only thing not covered is how to get your wifes' permission to do it in the back yard. This book is not for entertaining reading, but a complete guide.
I showcased this book last night at the round table. Turns out we had missed a few steps in our previous catapults, resulting in the death of several of our horsemen. Tomorrow we are taking the castle.
Building one now. Wish plans came a little bigger as I am doing that myself. I would like clearer pictures and a little key for the symbols for definitions.
Simply this is the book I have been looking for about Catapults. I know about trebuchets and that king of technology, but I don't have the time to design my own. This book lacks historical blabling or phisic's theory (all very handy on line) but simply gives a big bunch of plans clear enough to be easily followed. I recommended ir very much for weekend's family proyect .... depending on the kind of family you have of course.
