fascinating material poorly presented by an author who can't write a coherent narrative. He repeats the same information in the exact same way over and over.

I am an ardent collector of 'Jack the Ripper' literature and specialist titles such as this one are usually guaranteed to attract my interest. I bought this particular 'book' in hopes of having something new and historically interesting to read but, ultimately, I was very disappointed. The 'book' (again written in 'quotes' to indicate I use the term use loosely) is 199 pages in total and less than 45 or so are the actual written word of the author himself. There are some bad copies of pictures and documents early in the text and then a brief and pedestrian overview of the 'Ripper' history interspersed therein. Once you take into account the large page and font parameters of the finished work, it amounts to not much more than 20 original novel size pages... hardly worth the title of 'book', in my estimation. If there was something earth-shattering in the meager content of this offering, I might be less negatively critical.... Sad to say, this purchase was not worth it for my money.

A very thorough work, clearly heavily researched and well written. Provides additional insight into the gruesome death of Mary Kelly, the generally accepted "final" victim of Jack the Ripper. A must for any Ripperologist!

Refreshingly devoid of "Jack the Ripper was ...!" intent -- "Jack the Ripper: The Inquest of the Final Victim Mary Kelly" is simply a fine dissection (forgive the ghastly pun) of a Victorian coroner's inquest.Fascinating reading for anyone who delves into true crime books or Victorian history! I was particularily caught by the idea of Mary Kelly being seen alive hours after her death. No wonder the Ripper murders continue to mesmerize armchair detectives! It is like a labyrinth -- ever changing wih new paths to follow through the London coal fog.Thank you, Mr. Smithkey, for a most enjoyable read!
