The principal aim of the Editorial Committee has been to establish a text which fully reveals Chopin's thoughts and corresponds to his intentions as closely as possible. The full version of this edition includes 21 volumes.

Edited by Paderewski which used to be the most authentic version. Now a new edition by Jan Ekier appeared in 2013 (search for Chopin Waltzes National Edition). The Chopin Competition now recommends using the new edition which is supposedly more authentic to the original. Any recordings before Jan 2013 will be based mostly on Paderewski and thus this edition is still useful. The only complaint is the binding (glued!) and thus it cannot stay open flat. I took this to Staples for a plastic Combbind binding spine so that I can have this open flat.
