Although each study emphasizes an aspect of virtuoso piano technique, the etudes are some of the most effectively moving of all the concert works in piano literature. This 144-page volume includes the 24 Etudes, Opp. 10 and 25 as well as the three etudes without opus numbers composed in 1839 for Moscheles and Fetis's Method of Methods. Pedaling is taken from the original manuscripts and first editions, and fingering is editorial. The comb binding creates a lay-flat book that is perfect for study and performance.

This edition is awesome. It has a plastic spiral that lets the book open and lay flat, and in comparison to books without it this feature is definitely better.The measures are numbered and they are spaced evenly throughout the pages. There is no crowding of notes and footnotes are kept at the bottom. The font and note color is big and black too.Overall this takes the cake because Chopin's Etudes are so difficult the edition must be as clear to understand as possible.I only wish that Alfred publishing would make more complete editions like this of other artists such as Beethoven and Debussy. In any case this edition is superior to the Schirmer editons.
The Alfred Editions are, in my experience, the best edited and annotated scores on the market and this Edition is no exception. The price is good and the item did not disappoint.
The Etudes are clearly printed and have my highest usage rating. As in this edition is very useful for practicing and taking from one piano to another. That being said I have found they have several typos in the fingering of this edition. One has to be very careful of that when practicing. But if your looking for a very user friendly edition this is it.
This edition has clean print and helpful performance notes. The comb binding keeps it flat for visibility. I bought it for one particular etude and now hope to explore others. It's a great collection.

Everything published by Alfred Masterwork Editions is of superb quality. Nice print, large bold fonts with adequate space make for very practical sheet music.
