The Unwords: Exposing The Dishonest Language Of A Culture In Decline

A nameless character. A faceless figure. A disturbing, thought-provoking journey through the facts of the world we live in that we often refuse to acknowledge.By taking full advantage of their author's lack of identity and extreme levels of introspection, The Unwords cut straight through the pretenses and the fallacies in our language as they unleash a full scale attack on all fronts of cultural and social decay. Neither an author's name nor a publisher's name is showcased on its front and back cover; only the title is present.Written in fluent verse and expanding into full-page, full color illustrations which carry the theme into artistic territory, the words blend seamlessly with the arts as they form novel-like chapters that end with a single, dynamic sentence; a new, refreshing form of writing known as "Graphic-verse." The book is characterized by the author's brutal honesty when dealing with personal issues and it is also unforgiving and relentless when it approaches matters of poverty, corruption, home-ownership, religion and healthcare. The extensive use of artistic visuals by the author in combination with his dynamic verse, results in a very inventive and original structure, while its linguistic and philosophical approach to various contemporary social and psychological issues blurs the line which separates fiction from reality.Words are meant to be spoken. In a dishonest world, what remains unspoken can only be the truth. In a dishonest world... all words can go to hell!

First I have to mention some information that any potential reader of this amazing book should know before choosing which format to purchase. Because I was lucky enough to acquire all three formats and there are major differences between the eBook, paperback and hard-cover versions.I won The Unwords in paperback during a free give-away of the book on Facebook. I try to enter in as many give-aways as I can because I am cheap when it comes to books and I love free stuff. I read The Unwords around a month after. I just wasn't too excited about reading it because it wasn't something I would normally be interested in, I don't like poetry and I don't like graphic novels. It just fell on my path and I was lucky enough to win a copy. This is not poetry, even though it's written in poetic form. This is not a graphic novel either, even though the illustrations cover roughly 70% of the book, and they are indeed beautiful. This is something else. A hybrid of sorts between various genres. A highly original technique and it works flawlessly. But where the book really excels is in its overall unique approach to subjects that you've read about before, but not from this angle. I was shocked by the author's way of thinking concerning a variety of issues, and when I say "shocked" I mean that in a very positive way. (there's a part in the first chapter which deals about sex and the use of protection which really caught me off guard, a highly original approach to this subject which made me think a lot about my own experiences.
