Aquamorphia is a richly lyrical journey through the substance many of us take for granted; water.. After reading the first part, I came up for air and switched on the ABC to watch the coverage of the Victorian election, and was starkly reminded of how dehydrated our world often appears. Aquamorphia is a beautiful and powerful work. I found it both confronting in its stark reminder of how completely reliant we are on water and joyful in its celebration of water for all its life giving and spiritual qualities. The layers of metaphor and truthful imagery are so fluidly woven, it's as if water itself was telling us its/her story. Healing, cleansing, satiating, grace-full, sustaining, slowly eroding humanity into our destined shape.. Keep on pouring, Miss Hawke!
This collection, a stream of thoughts on water, is playful and moving, offering perceptive observations, theoretical reflection, and sensual touch. Seamingly simple and straight-forward, a plain chemical compound, water plays a vital role at many levels, to the senses and emotions, to bodies, and life itself. This is engaging poetry, food for thought, and good to read.
