Part of a series of books, each book is a pleasure to read. I feel as though I have gotten to be friends with the author as he shares his memoirs of being a helicopter pilot during the Vietnam War. He has a matter-of-fact tone blended with a friendliness that makes the books very approachable. The multitude of stories explaining his every-day life during his time in Vietnam is very informative and entertaining even though it can cover difficult topics. I looked forward to reading the series every evening, until I've read them through!
I have reviewed others in the series. This one is just as good. Michael Trout maintains great consistency of style throughout. Wish I could write like that. Wish there was one edition first to last. Maybe someday when the series is complete it can be merged. Great piece of very readable history.
This series of books are the best I have read on the soldiers point of view in Vietnam. Trout tells the story in a way that you can feel that you are there feeling these events, good and bad together. Thank you so much for sharing this Mister Trout and above all thank you for your service to this country!
A great book that is hard to put down. He makes you feel as though you were right back there. There are a few typos which resulted from his having to dictate the book from a version written with outdated computer technology. I have read the whole series to date and I can't wait for the next book.

As with Mr. Trout's 2 previous books, well written, realistic and accurate portrayal of what war in Vietnam. As a former helicopter pilot in Vietnam, with every page I felt I was back in the war. Well done Mike Trout!
Ok, let's start by saying that this is a continuous series book and as such will not "take off" like a typical story book. The author has gone to great length to let us know & explains why. What errors there are can easily be overlooked because the content itself is great. If you are looking for a good series book about the "daily" life of a pilot's service in Vietnam then understand that we're in it for the long haul, as he was in Vietnam.
This is a great read. As a retired military helicopter pilot myself, I can directly relate to Mike's experiences. Recommend for anyone wanting to experience of combat aviation. Thanks for sharing your experience Mike!
