Esta patente oscuridad, de Frank Peretti, se encuentra entre las novelas clásicas del género cristiano de suspense. Publicado por primera vez en 1986, el libro de Peretti establece un estándar del suspense en la narración de historias de guerra espiritual que rara vez han logrado sus contemporáneos. Teniendo como escenario el aparentemente inocente pueblo de Ashton, Esta patente oscuridad persigue a un intrépido predicador cristiano nacido de nuevo y reportero mientras trata de desenmascarar un complot de la Nueva Era para apoderarse de la comunidad local y a la larga del mundo. Casi cada página del libro describe demonios de grotesca apariencia batallando contra ángeles de elevada estatura y buen parecer con un nivel de realismo que sobrepasa los sentidos. Sin embargo, los creyentes cristianos y los adoradores de demonios de la Nueva Era pueden influenciar los choques invisibles entre el bien y el mal por medio del poder de la oración. Las violentas descripciones de Peretti de exorcismos son en especial vívidas: «Habían quince [demonios], empacados en el cuerpo de Carmen como gusanos superpuestos, arrastrándose, moviéndose, hirviendo, una maraña de brazos, piernas talones y cabezas horripilantes». Este libro no es para los de constitución débil. Sin embargo, como una muestra del suspense espiritual al voltear cada página, es difícil de derrotar.

I teach in a Christian school and we are reading "This Present Darkness" in our Literature Class. I have an exchange student from Columbia, and she was having a hard time understanding the english version. To find this book at [...] was a lifesaver! She is totally engrossed in the book and is able to take the reading tests on it in English although she reads the Spanish version. All my students love this book and even students I have taught in the past see my present students carrying "This Present Darkness" around and they exclaim, "Wow, I read that! It is my favorite book of all times! Or, boy, that book changed my life." I could not be happier to be able to share it with an exchange student!

Excellent and entertaining book!!!! A must read. I enjoyed this book from the beginning to end... Is one of those books that you start reading and can't stop until you are finish. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did.

Frank Peretti es el mejor escritor de ficción y suspenso con tema cristiano, y este es el mejor de sus libros. Lo recomiendo mucho si creen en la guerra espiritual y demonios y ángeles de la forma en que la Biblia lo enseña.Frank Peretti is the best writer of fiction and suspense with a christian message, and this is the best of their books. I recommend it very much if you believe in spiritual war and demons and angels in the way the Bible teaches it.

There are many books that would let you know about the spiritual world in a peaceful manner. This one master the reader to think about a spiritual world that is in the middle of a war. The way the author manage theological aspects of the life and how spiritual wars on the air affects the human world, is awesome. It is not a book to be afraid, but to enjoy it. Compare it as a story that is happening somewhere, but that somehow it could happens to you. Also, the novel point out the church responsiblity of pray for the problems. The church of our times is sleeping while the world is having the worst time ever. We should wake up, and at least, pray for our nation. Read it, I encourage you to do so, you will not be disappointed! And let me tell you that the price is better than ever.

Este libro me cautivo, lo tome en mis manos y no pude soltarlo hasta terminar de leerlo. La trama está muy bien hecha. Al leerlo, estas en suspenso, no sabes que va a pasar en cada momento. Además relata en forma magistral, la batalla que se desarrolla alrededor nuestro, en el mundo invisible. Lo recomiendo, se lo pase para leer a mis hijas adolescentes, quedaron fascinadas.

This book takes a closer look to Christianity and the power of prayer. If you ever wondered why some of the things happen to us, this book will give you an answer. I highly recomend this book.Even though it is a novel, it does make a lot of references to the bible. This is a must have book for a "born-again" Christian.

This novel never makes me tired. I have read it several times during the last 10 years and it is like returning to a really good movie.
