Legal Aspects Of Special Education

For every course in Special Education Law and Education Law, or as a perfect supplement to any Educational Administration course, Legal Aspects of Special Education was written by a practitioner to help teachers, administrators, and advocates understand special education law in everyday language– without excessive legalese or extraneous case law. Different in many ways from other special education law texts on the market, all of the elements of this text are intended to help its students obtain the most critical information about special education law and how it is applied in the real world. Some unique features include: a fascinating opening interview and then epilogue with Joe Ballard, a pioneer of the IDEA movement; a discussion of Response-to-Intervention (RTI) and the implication of IDEA 2004 for school districts; and a discussion of the history of special education and its link to the Civil Rights Movement. Additionally, the book provides case studies and application questions, critical thinking questions, the most current information on the laws including No Child Left Behind and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act of 2004, and a discussion of major trends changing the laws, including that of autism.

I never know what to say about textbooks so I rarely write reviews. Do you want to know about the condition? I purchased this book used, so I kinda don't care how it came, as long as it has pages, but if you are interested, I bought it used, in good to "like new" condition and that's pretty much what I got. Maybe there was a creased corner? I don't think there were any markings in the book? I don't remember. All the pagers were there, and the price was much more affordable than purchasing new so I was pleased. But I wanted to note that I really enjoy this text, and find it to be very valuable in terms of information. It's weird, a grad student liking a text book, huh? But yeah, I find it to not only provide all the necessary information regarding Special Ed Law, but it's written so that non-lawyers can actually comprehend it. I had to purchase it for a class, but I'd recommend it for anyone in the field of Education to strengthen understanding of the rights of individuals with disabilities and the roles and responsibilities of various school personnel in upholding the various laws.

It is a simple as this;I needed a book for my class. I wasn't willing to pay the exorbitant price for an eighth edition. So I purchased a used seventh edition for a fraction of the cost. The book is in fine condition and the information is sound.Thank you for the service you provide.

The book was in used condition when I received it, despite paying new book prices. The book provided great insight into special education and the origins of IDEA. I didn't have to wait long for it to come in the mail and never received a receipt. Customer services gave me a few dollars credit for my worries.

Great book for any educator, not just special Ed. I'll be keeping this one for reference for my pre school class room.

Arrived quickly. Pretty good. Clear. Good structure. Only concern--some pressing information (like prevelance of minorities in spec-ed) the author sums up in a table & doesn't mention in the text.

This was a very useful tool, I will forever use it as a go to guide when I have questions regarding what I should and should not do in regards to the safety and well-being of all my students.

Great book! It educates a person about the law in a way that it is understandable and useful to the person reading the book.

Had to read this for my Ed.S. class. Good book. Good scenarios and examples throughout the book. I would recommend it.
