About his travels and stays in the Middle East he wrote many books, articles and unpublished journals. This publication is mainly based on these writings. He was also a talented photographer and collector of photographs. Part of his collection is kept at the Royal Tropical Institute (KIT) in Amsterdam and is presented in this book. Excellent book very informative about the period 1930ies concerning the life on the territory of not yet "Saudi Arabia". Very useful to any person studying the period. Especially interesting in geoplitics and particularly informative compared to today's situation and events.
