This is a photo book of the M1, using the best quality signal corps photos during WWII and a few from Korea. The M1 is shown on the front lines, behind the lines, and being maintained in the field. Photo reproduction is wonderful and presented so the reader wants to go back and study them in more detail.Limited text accompanies the photos. But this is not a history of the weapon, or who manufactured it. But I believe it belongs in the library of anyone interested in the Garand. It is somewhat expensive, but the printing quality and binding seem to justify the cost, not to forget that this is a limited production book which increases the cost too.

This coffee table book is a treasure of pictures and stories about the M1 Garand rifle, a weapon of war that gave the US military and allies a significant advantage on the battlefield. The pictures tell stories of the hardships this rifle was carried through. Detail and quality of the formate is exceptional. More than a picture book, a telling of story at a critical point in world history.

This book presents rarely seen combat photos of the M-1 rifle in action. The author culled these photos from his research at the National Archives. If you want written narrative info about the M-1 rifle, you will be disappointed. But if you would like to see historic combat photography of this historic firearm, then this is the book for you.

I strongly recommend this book to all M-1 enthusiasts who are looking for a photographic review of this great rifle. There is almost no text in the book except captions for the photos. Excellent quality of photographs and collector grade of the book make it great addition to your library. There are more titles being prepared by the same publisher (BAR,Thompson, .30 and .50 cal) but they will print them only if first two will sell pretty well. I am really happy with this book and can't wait for the rest of the series.

This book has beautiful B&W photography of GI's using the Garand in WWII. Many of these photos were a "first" for me. If you own a M1 Garand or are just a fan of this iconic weapon, this will be a nice addition to your library collection. The book was delivered quickly and was in excellent condition.
