Torts & Personal Injury Law

Torts and Personal Injury Law, 3rd Edition is a timely and topical text that will keep students' interest and prompt their desire to further explore this area of law. It presents only cases with the greatest application to each subject area, most of which have been decided since 2000. This text contains the most recent cases compared with any other text available. The material makes a lively presentation of memorable examples and cases, aimed at provoking thought and classroom discussion. And, the text does excellent job of explaining cases in such a way that someone unaccustomed to reading statutes but interested in personal injury law will understand and benefit from the content.

If the retail price of a textbook is $152, I would expect the publishers to hire a copy editor who knows how to read. In just a quick scan I've found the word "gun" used instead of "gum," "international," instead of "intentional," and "If" is apparently spelled with two Is these days. Also, the information tables are insultingly elementary ... not unlike what you'd expect to find in a fourth-grade reader. There is a lot of useful information in the book. I'll say that for it.But, all in all, I'd say the price of the book combined with it's quality actually made me angry.

The book was written in a way that was easily read and easily understood. I especially like the cases so that I could apply the laws and procedures that I learned to a legal case or hypothetical situation. Applying the laws to the cases assists me in understanding how the laws apply in a realistic situation. Paralegal Today, the Legal Team at Work by Miller and Urisko was also written in a style that was easy to understand and suggested realistic application of information in the book. I would suggest that anyone who wants to learn about Tort Law should purchase this book.

This is a very well written textbook on the Law of Torts (American law dealing with injuries done to others). There are a few books out there now that communicate the law very well to us newbies. I highly recommend this book just for these two reasons: clarity and effectiveness.

For the class that I am currently taking I find this book to be very efficient. It has all the Torts Law information to know. It has real Legal examples which makes it great. It gives you all the definition necessary to understand the law. I like the book a lot.
