As in the other “Killing” books, O’Reilly and Dugard crafted a sort of a mini-biography, culling snippets from the main character’s life, and wrapping them around the “killing” of the main character. Killing Reagan is different from its four predecessor books. The reason is that the main character, President Ronald Reagan, dies not in the hands of another individual or individuals, but because of natural causes. Indeed, if not for sheer luck and the skilled and timely intervention of medical professionals, President Reagan may have been the third U.S. President to have been assassinated in office since the Civil war, and the fourth to die while in office during the same period. The assassination attempt by the schizophrenic John Hinckley took place almost 25 years before Reagan passed away. There is no indication that the attempt had anything to do with his death. At 94 years old, death can be ascribed to almost any condition, although Reagan was already suffering from Alzheimer’s for about 10 years until his death. The assassination itself seems to be an afterthought, given the relatively lightweight nature of the would-be Reagan killer, Hinckley. Hinckley’s act, because it was unsuccessful, is almost an afterthought, especially if set against the backdrop of some of the fascinating events in Reagan’s life and presidency. Killing Reagan almost seems like a mini-biography of Ronald Reagan woven within the framework of a botched assassination attempt by a relatively uninteresting antagonist.Given that there are at least ten full biographies of Reagan, including an autobiography released ten years after he left office, the “killing” angle appears to be a fresh one. This book is for people who would like a distilled version of the significant amount of detail that the authors have managed to pack in some 250 pages. Where necessary, I have combined chapters to create a more coherent chronological narrative, rather than go on a confusing flashbacks and flash forwards for the sake of summarization. There are hundreds of names, places, and events spanning some 7 decades, and these are not always laid out in chronological order. I trust that you will find this summary useful and will stimulate you to read the full book or learn more about the fascinating characters in Killing Reagan.Read more....Download your copy today! for a limited time discount of only $2.99! I liked this book because it was condensed and do not have so many confusing names of people. I’m not much of a historian so I appreciate that I got the picture in just a few pages. It’s a good reference guide on the life of Ronald Reagan. I was amazed at the devotion Nancy had bestowed upon her husband. It’s really true that behind a successful man is a woman. It just saddens me that Reagan was not able to hold his children’s devotion because he had been immersed in politics. We cannot really serve two masters at the same time.

I like the narrative approach of this book. The details of every events in a yearly basis made me more interested and absorbed. The comprehensible historical way of marking the story of Mr. Ronald Wilson Reagan made it very plain and simple, and understandable, rather than the usual flashbacks style of stories that is very confusing. Not bad for a summarized book and certainly worth a read.

This ISN"T the book Killing Reagan - I thought it was, but no. This is nothing but a high level synopsis of the book. I quit reading and threw it away so I wouldn't take the sizzle out of reading the REAL book.

Enjoyed this book. Changed my perspective on Reagan. Somewhat surprised by the negative view of Reagan portrayed by O'Reilly and this was not what I expected. Having lived through the period, I had a much more positive view. But when a known conservative does the research and paints this image, it makes you rethink the outward view of the time. Worthwhile.

I really enjoyed this short version of Presidents Reagans life story. I believe it hit all the high points and made me understand what he endured after the assassination attempt. I read it in an hour and yet away knowing him better.....

After reading " The 4 Killing series books: Jesus, Lincoln, JFK and Patton" I was disappointed in this summary edition. I have a great appreciation for the authors to detail their findings. This summary lacks the details.

Impressive! This is a very detailed and sometimes gritty story of Reagan and his staff and the lunatic shooter. This will raise some interesting questions by those of us who lived through those years but so far I've found the facts presented to be well researched. So much highly recommended!

The book was surprisingly good. I say this as I was not impressed with a previous book by Mr. O'Reilly. Unfortunately, it wasn't as detailed as much as expected. However, it was an excellent, short read which was well researched.
