... and this book reminded me why.He's one of the few truly honest writers out there that is willing to appear human.James has found success time and again when he really "shouldn't" have.His intelligence, subtle understanding of the current economic situation, and authenticity make this (and everything else he writes) a powerful read.
I actually liked this book better than it's predecessor "Choose Yourself", which I also read recently. This book starts out very strong, it's a collection of short stories. Caught my interest right away, I wound up reading it in two sittings. Very close to a five star rating, but the stories closer to the end didn't seem quite as interesting as they were to start the book. I love his writing style, very unique, very intelligent... Many times I paused to think about subject matter he brings up, how so much of it applies to everyone yet seldom is brought out in the open or talked about. I think James Altucher would be my favorite author to have lunch with. Read this book, it's awesome :)

Not sure if I prefer Choose Yourself or the Choose Yourself Stories... This is indeed another awesome & very entertaining read.
I subscribe to James Altucher's email list and have read his blog for a few years now so many of these stories I have read before. In fact I got this book by joining an email list from his podcast. It was great to read them grouped together and I would recommend the book to both new and current readers. The book is made up of entertaining short stories from James' life. Topics include family, relationships, entrepreneurship, pain, struggle, and love. Read it, this is a great book filled with amazing stories.
Brilliantly written as all of James Altuchers writings are. His is one of a few blogs that I read consistently because of his insight, entertainment and truth. I love his work, find it inspirational on so many levels. This book follows that tradition and is well worth the read!
Never read reviews from someone who admits to not reading the book, but please don't take that advice. I strongly recommend this book! If you count reading pretty much every blog all his blog posts, I'm qualified to suggest your purchase.Some of it may seem like watching a train wreck (his words). You will get more than you expect from his stories while laughing!Go ahead and get "Choose Yourself" as well. I own that one.
What a remarkable jumble of stories Mr. Altucher has written. I suppose they were all blog posts but the lack of coherency between chapters actually works for him. As an author Mr. Altucher is honest to the point of discomfort, he tells his self-deprecating stories and I remember the times I felt what he felt and did what he did. Despite the occasional embarrassing memory James has been a positive influence in my life with his books and blog and I highly recommend him to everyone. If you enjoy this book also pick up "Choose Yourself" James book on life.
