It isn't often you find a music book that has excellent arrangements for ALL the pieces in the book but this is such a book. My colleague and I really like the music and the interesting arrangements of familiar tunes. One of the songs was a new one-"There is a Happy Land" but it has become a favorite of our congregation. I wish there were more books like this one that make playing piano duets so much fun.
These duets are awesome! It is always hard to find an interesting and creative duet book that is inspiring and captivating for BOTH pianists, and not just one. My friend and I just love these! ' There Is A Happy Land' is our favorite. It is light and fun. My second favorite is 'Come Thou Almighty King'... it's so fast and has a classic touch of jazz to it... the rythm is contagious. No arrangements are too 'heavy' or slow and dragged out. You will abosultely love this book! I promise!I just wish Mr. Shackley would write more!
Larry Shackley does an amazing job creating duets for traditional hymns. Some of them are light jazz style while others very traditional. This book has a good selection of styles.
Great arrangements that are not simplistic.
