I don't know a lot about the Marines and didn't understand what my son was getting into. This book helped me understand, easy read, very informative for parents. Excellent book!
I got this book so that I would know what my recruit was going through during boot camp. I felt this book was more for my recruit than it was for me as a parent. The book was choppy. The first chapter was about the recruits receiving mail at book camp and then the next chapter was the history of the Marine Corp. I felt there was information in the book that I as a parent didn't need to know and that it was more for my son as he joins. I didn't feel I needed to know what all the Marine jargon and lingo was. Although there was some information in the book that was valuable, I feel I have gotten more information from other parents whose kids have already been in the Marines.
