Recently went to Argentina to visit my son, a college senior, during his 'semester abroad' experience in Cordoba, Argentina. I purchased my first copy of "How Argentina Cooks" while there. As an avid cookbook collector, foodie and cook, the cookbook was a delight -- filled with cultural tidbits, cooking techniques and a sense of timelessness. Having been immersed in the language during my visit, being able to read both the Spanish and the English recipe, side by each, was such fun. Even learned more Spanish. I was so delighted with the book I bought six more copies to gift all six college seniors in the program, believing it to be a perfect keepsake of their Argentine semester abroad. I have used many recipes from the book to recreate the Argentine experience at home for friends and family to great success.

I was in Mendosa in Argentina when I discovered empanadas - the half-moon shaped pastries filled with meat, cheese or whatervere you will! The waiter was very friendly and finally went into the kitchen and came out with the chef ! The chef not only spoke a little English - but he gave me the name of this book. The real joy is not only its complete authenticity, but that it is written in both Spanish and English! I bought if for myself and also for two members of my family who love cooking.

This comprehensive cookbook is a little treasure. Mr. Vázquez-Prego is to be commended for his ability to adhere to tradition and for the clarity of his writing. His work clearly deserves a five-star rating!Este libro de cocina está muy bien escrito. Está repleto de recetas tradicionales argentinas.¡Felicitaciones!

Great Book, authentic and luckily in two languages. I understand the most of the spanish, but in some cases I was happy to read the recipe in english.I can't follow the 1star-rating of one rewiever just due to the lacking of pictures.If you have ever been to argentina you know how those classic dishes look - if not, well it might probabely be helpful with pics but then it's just not the right book to buy.You'll pay here for authentic recipes and not for foodporn ;)
