Westminster Bones: The Real Mystery Of The Princes In The Tower

Investigations into the mystery of the skeletal remains found at the Tower of London in 1674 and immediately pronounced as being the Princes in the Tower have been hampered by a singular concentration on the drama of a medieval murder story. If the Westminster Bones are the objects of an elaborate hoax, we need to ask who would perpetrate it and why? The power of theatrical drama has prevented the question being considered. Here is a lucid explanation for the “finding” of the bones at the Tower of London in the reign of King Charles the Second that does not rely on theatrical invention, but rather an understanding of the intricacies of human guile.

This little book is fascinating! As a Ricardian I am often asked "Well, what about those bones they found in the Tower - weren't they the 'Princes in the Tower'? After having read widely I firmly believed they were not (owing to the depth they were buried and archaeologists' opinions), but I never considered the interesting idea of them being basically a fraud, created for political purposes. Richard Unwin raises intriguing questions and attempts to provide plausible scenarios for his theory. I suppose we may never know for sure, unless in the future the bones are allowed to be tested, but in the meantime this theory is compelling.

Interesting book about the controversy surrounding Richard III's role in the disappearance of his two nephews and heirs to the English crown. Pretty much a specialist's book

Restoration conspiracy? Very interesting theory, although dragging in places.

A very interesting take on this old mystery.

Remained interesting throughout entire read.
