I downloaded this book while planning a trip to visit and explore the Maya. This book is anything BUT short! It's filled with some humor from personal experiences while giving detailed descriptions and backgrounds of each Maya Site, and tips and clues about how to get there or where to stay so you can get the view of the temples WITHOUT the swarm of tourists.I'm really glad I picked this book up before my trip.
A friend gave me this book and it was a pretty good read! The book is packed with info about, what feels like, every single Mayan site you could possibly see. I wish the book was printed in a better quality to see the amazing photos in more detail. Also, a neat touch were the time tables in the back of the book that gave you a feel for how long to stay at each point in your itinerary.
Short and concise guide (and not too heavy!) for visiting Maya sites in the Yucatan peninsula. The author made maps for each site and offers insider tips for getting around. I have visited a few of these sites in the past and have a general interest in Maya culture - this book is interesting and easy to read and will be an excellent guide on my next trip!
Beautiful pictures! The book is a great visual tour of the civilization!
