This is small hard cover book that goes over the history, agriculture and rituals involved in drinking Mate. The book is full of pictures showing the variations in receptacles used to drink (from cured gourds to wood and silver Mate's). These vary by region and socio-economic class, but the practice of drinking it is the same. It is a great book to read with kids who may not quite understand why their parents drink this strange concoction when no one else around does, or to display with your mate and bombilla display.
Beautiful little book and a delight to read whilst sipping on your mate, appreciating the historical context surrounding this wonderful restorative elixir.
