A well laid out summary of this book, from the book review and the setting of the story to the analysis of the characters and synopsis of the individual chapters. However, some of the chapters read funny in the sense that they give a little more detail than I think they need. For instance, in chapter 5 when Sam is getting into a vehicle, they specifically say Toyota Prius. Maybe it's just me, but it's just weird placing, kind of felt like an advertisement.
I tend to like John Grisham’s work, and Grey Mountain is no exception. I am in law school and have always had a soft spot for legal fiction, even before I started in the field. The novel is fairly modern, taking place in 2008. Like most of his other works, the main character, Samantha is a new lawyer. Her path changes in the economic fall of 2008, and she finds herself in a free legal clinic in a small town. A lot of Grisham’s novels focus on large, rich firms or high profile cases, so to see the ins and outs of a free clinic was surprisingly refreshing. The main case the book focuses on is against a coal company causing locals health problems. It reminded me a little of the dirty water cases and movies about them that tend to pop up. Grisham has great legal knowledge and tends to get things right, which is for sure a positive over a lot of legal fiction, such as law and order. Even those without legal backgrounds can follow Grisham as he does a great job of laying it out in terms anyone can understand. The book is exciting, and invites a sequel, so I will be waiting patiently for more.
Definitely a great synopsis of Gray Mountain by John Grisham. Although the original book is a great read, this summary can help you understand it more fully. It goes chapter by chapter explaining the plot and the importance of what happens. It also includes a nice refresher on the characters and a short summary. This summary and analysis is definitely worth the small price. I highly recommend it.
I am a huge fan of the Book Sense Summary & Analysis. The characters are listed in the beginning and are given a short explanation of who they are. Then, each chapter is summed up in a page or two. There is just enough information to give you a good idea of what happened but not enough information to spoil the book. At the end of the summary and analysis there is an overview of the book and the author. These Book Sense Summary and Analysis books are well written and are exactly what the title suggests. There is no fluff or opinion, just facts about the book. Excellent if you are looking for an overview of a certain book or if you are wondering if it is worth reading.
This summary doesn't miss a beat. It's concise, cogent and a good reflection of the John Grisham book. I'v had the pleasure of reading other similar summations of books before and the Book Sense summaries are among the best. Grey mountain is the story of Samatha post economic meltdown in the dead wind that has filled the void of profits fervour, Virginia. In Particular, Grey Mountain details character development extremely well, with some very personal examinations going into what makes each individual tick, how they see the world differently and how they act with others, This is where I got the most from the summary. If you liked the book you will love the subplot the summary reveals, I didn't notice how much was going on until I was done reading the analysis which gave the plot a new light which I really liked. The overview is also a look into John Grishams thought process, how he has positioned the features of the text to illustrate a deeper point and portray the characters with very human, unabashed qualities. I also agree that the second half of the original text is much better and that a sequel is well deserved. Great rundown.
A wonderful summary and analysis written based on Josh Grisham's Gray Mountain. I was aware while I picked this book to read, since I completed Gray Mountain a week ago. First of all, I liked this short book. Every chapter of the novel has nicely analyzed, I was really surprised to discover the answers I was looking for. When I completed chapter analysis, the key character analysis pleased me. Even major symbols, motifs, themes and especially the conclusion were wonderfully written. This was my pleasure to read this excellent book.
I love John Grisham but I do have to admit that his novels can be complex, even confusing at times. I really wanted to read his novel Gray Mountain but I knew I definitely wanted to get this Gray Mountain Summary and Analysis by Book*Sense to go along with the book. I just needed something to help me better understand the story, the setting and the characters. I first read the Summary and Analysis detailed book review so that I had an understanding of what the general synopsis of the book was. Then, I read the key character analysis and character details so I could better understand the characters as I read the book. I highly recommended this Summary and Analysis!
My wife passed this book over to me when she was done with it. She assures me that while some things are exaggerated for excitement, over all is it fairly accurate, as are most of Grishams novels. That is just amazing to me, especially seeing the ins and outs of the free legal clinic. However, the main focus of the novel, the coal case, blew me out of the water. I don’t really read these types of books, but my wife insisted I should try this one, and I was hooked from page 1. This analysis helped me greatly, since this is not my normal read. It helped me keep track of who everyone was and what was going on when with its chapter by chapter overview. I may even pick up the next one when I see it.
