Chopin Piano Concerto No1 In E Minor Op11 Book And 3 CD Set

(Music Minus One). Performed by David Syme, piano. Accompaniment: Stuttgart Symphony Orchestra. Conductor: Emil Kahn. This romantic concerto is one of the composer's few works with orchestra and displays great lyricism and grandeur. Revealing Chopin's unique understanding of the piano, it is a challenging and rewarding work which combines poetry and excitement as only this master could. A high point in the literature, essential for every serious pianist. This deluxe 3-CD set includes a slow-tempo practice version to help you get up to speed. Includes an authoritative, newly engraved 112-page music score printed on high-quality ivory paper, and a compact disc containing a complete version with soloist); a second compact disc in digitally remastered stereo of the orchestral accompaniment, minus the soloist; and a third compact disc containing a -25% slow-tempo practice version of the accompaniment.

It's a great help for preparing the work for a concert with it's recordings in different speeds. The sheet music is a good edition with interesting fingerings.

I'm actually going to have to agree with one of the other customers who commented on the inconsistent tempo--the fluctuations drove me crazy! Aside from that, this CD-book set is very helpful in allowing the pianist to run through the composition with the orchestra. I believe that practice makes PERMANENT, and that PERFECT practice makes perfect, so due to the (in my opinion) misplaced tempo fluctuations, I would strongly recommend that the pianist thoroughly learn the music and practice a lot BEFORE using this set, then use it sparingly.

so some of us don't have access to an orchestra whenever we want. i guess even concert pianists dont have that much privilege. but if you have friends you can play with, its better then the tempo offered in the book. im not saying the tempo is off or bad. but it is too strict leaving rubato to be desired. this book will help you alot in the end. it has the orchestra on the CD and you can fill in with the piano.. how great is that? its like having an orchestra play with you when you wish. so practicing the concerto is now alot easier. (if your the pianist that it).
