I agree with Publisher's Weekly in giving this Spanish translation of The Kissing Hand a 5 star review. Connecting with our children is a number one priority, and this story does just that. Young Chester leaves the comfort of his home for school, but brings along his mother's love in the form of a kiss that warms his heart and soul. Chester returns this love by placing a kiss in his mother's palm, allowing her the same comfort. Chester feels safe and secure carrying this bit of reality shared by raccoon parents and cubs.
My sister in law is a professional in early education and she gave us this book when our oldest son was heading to preschool. The story is really sweet and help the kids to understand their feelings toward separation and understand that it is ok. I got the Spanish version for the son of a friend who was having trouble at school drop off time and they also love it.
I love reading this story to my daughter. The translation is great and the quality is excellent. I highly recommend this book.

The best children's stories are the ones that become part of us, the ones that offer comfort and permit us to grow. This book is one of them, quite simply because it speaks about something everyone can relate and also gives a solution to a grownup dilema: how to comfort someone (and ourselves) when we must be apart from the ones we love, even for a little while. The beautiful illustrations and the soft words of Mother comforts and gives hope just with a promise and a kiss.
This is my favorite Spanish book of all time. It is for any child who might be experiencing difficult times in their life or a child who just might need the extra comfort. It is about Chester the raccoon who is experiencing changes in his life and is missing his mom. His mom explains to him that she will always be there with him even when he can't see her. Chester finds comfort in knowing that through his life changes he will always have his mom with him and knowing that he goes out on his own. Whenever he starts to feel sad or lonely he stops and remembers that his mom is with him. The illustrations are so sweet and you feel and connect to the struggles that Chester is experiencing. I love, love this book and I also think it sounds better in Spanish.
We used this book to prepare my daughter for pre school. The mommy raccoon kisses her son's palm and the kiss stays with him all day.
Well-written. great illustrations. A very fun read for all ages. The book is very flimsy but the message is strong.
