The Summer Red Editions of Alfonzo close the season with heat in Axiom Volume XXI. Alfonzo's much needed vacation doesn't preclude him from doing business. Those machinations keep churning and as far as his family’s concerned, he’s simply relaxing. He's ordering hits with paradise as a backdrop while Nico, Giuseppe, Sergio and Lorenzo are in Sicily dealing with a mess load of personal problems. But, bad things a man does is apt to end ‘no bueno’ at home.

As an avid reader I read many books from many different genres. There is only one other author that has written as many books in a specific series as Ms. S.W. Frank that managed to hold my complete and unadulterated interest through each and every release; and yet with that being said Ms. S.W. Frank is still miles ahead of her. I eagerly anticipated the release of Axiom, the 21st novel in the Alfonzo saga and if I must say so myself I was NOT disappointed. Of course we saw the return of all of the familiar characters Alfonzo, Selange, Ari, Nico, Geo, Sergio, Lorenzo, and the children. When the book opens we are able to see Anita getting her due justice. I was saddened to see another weight and stain placed upon the soul and heart of Alfonzo but I understand him like no other. He lives in a world that demands that he make the hard decisions to ensure the safety of the ones that he loves. This mantle is a very heavy one to carry but there is no other better suited to carry out the necessary tasks than Al. Watching Nico all but break under the perceived betrayal of Ari humanized him even more for me as a character. We are used to witnessing the scary enforcer and in the later offerings we've witnessed the devoted father and family man but in this installment we clearly were able to see the heart of Nico and how very much he loves Ari. Truly it can be said that his children own the pieces of his heart that remain intact but Ari is truly his sanity and beacon of light in his world of darkness. I loved watching Nico and Sergio connect. The maturity that we were able to witness in Sergio further endears him to me as a permanent fixture in the family.
