I have used this book for years in classes and small groups. It works very well for combinations of unlike instruments. It is a great teaching tool (for learning orchestration tips) and all of the parts are easily marked and easy to read. At first,. I was put off because of the cover's design change, but I understand they had to make it look more appealing to kids and parents alike. This is a great asset to any school orchestra/band library.
Bought this for my 5th grade grandson who is loving playing the clarinet in band this year. Thought he would have fun learning some new music for Christmas this year. Good assortment of songs with some easy for beginners and some a bit more challenging.
Just had our three boys (brothers/cousins) play a Christmas concert (along with mom) for the grandparents. Everyone was happy. We will use it again next year.
I am a musician Dad bass player and loved using these books to play for family during the holidays. It worked great with my 7th grade clarinetist and H.S. son on bari B.C.. Lots of cool pieces and varying levels. A keeper for sure!
