La Tortilla Corredora (Spanish Edition)

Mother has prepared a tortilla for her hungry children to eat. One problem--the tortilla refuses to be someone's dinner. Children will be amused at how the tortilla dodges its enemies in this hysterical take on the story of the Gingerbread Boy.

I did not see any pictures of the inside so I took a chance with this book and was pleasantly surprised. This is such a cute book. We just received it today and my 1.5 yr old who loves tortillas LOVES this book. Like someone else said, it is basically the story of the Gingerbread boy except it is a tortilla. And *Spoil Alert*, the tortilla is NOT eaten in the end.

This is a dramatic, exciting book for the pre-schooler. The story is the South American version of the folk tale, The Gingerbread Boy. Here we have the tortilla boy! The book is in Spanish but the pictures tell the story by themselves. The colors are bold and wonderful and the details on every page are worth exploring. Look for the distinctions between the seven hungry children, for example. If you know little children being raised in Spanish speaking homes or in homes where the family wants to raise bilingual children (as is the case in our family) this is a perfect book since any non-Spanish speaking adult can "read" the story. A surprise ending opens the story to imagination!

La tortilla corredora is a fun and exciting book for children of all ages. The preschooler will delight in its wonderfully simple yet sophisticated illustrations, while older children will find its uncomplicated, clear new telling of a traditional story both fun and easy to read. The illustrations will help them move the story along, and they will discover some new and surprising detail weaved into every page with each reading.A special treat for both children and adults is a visual glossary of some of the fauna and flora of Chile provided at the end of the book. After reading this book with a six and a nine year old, we went back to the story and made a game of finding and identifying each of the images included in the glossary, some of which appear several times. This sort of scavenger hunt certainly made for some lively and fun playtime.Although the book is written in Spanish, the beautiful illustrations full of whimsy make it enjoyable in any language.

Excellent children's book. The illustrations in the book are too cute!!

So cute and funny. My second grade dual language class loves it!
