It is very helpful to have the translation of the texts at the beginning of each song so that one doesn't have to thumb back through the book to find out what the song is about and figure out the best way to interpret. To have the translations in a poetry form adds to the ease of interpreting the song.
Translations of the German text on the same page as the beginning of each song makes it easier to quickly check the emotional context of a phrase and thus sing it in the way it was meant to be interpreted musically especially for those who are not very familiar with Germanic language.
The text could have been larger but I especially liked the performance and historical notes. The selections are varied and quitenice for a recital.
This book has many great Strauss songs. Unfortunately the quality of the printing is second rate. While not as bad as many Schirmer editions, it still looks as if it is a poor-quality photocopy rather than a laser sharp image.
