I am an attorney. I have handled Social Security Disability cases for over 25 years. At times, I encourage potential clients to apply on their own as the case sounds solid - I do this to save them money from paying me, or another lawyer, and sometimes they call back to say "It worked! Thank-you."Sadly, many others call back to say "I was denied." To prevent that, I now provide a link to this reasonably priced book. The amount of information, expertise, wisdom and knowledge that has been shared by Tomasz is mind-boggling. The depth of his experience and his willingness to share it in this book provides an excellent tool.The color photos are excellent. There are excellent suggestions on how to answer questions that one would have dismissed as unimportant or answered from the wrong angle.SSA has made it convenient to apply from the comfort of your home, or another's home. You can save your work if you need more time or don't have enough information.This book is a must for anyone that applies - whether there case is rock solid or iffy - there is just no reason not to use this tool.
Like so many government programs, Social Security disability programs can be useful...IF you can navigate the application process. Tomasz Stasiuk's guidebook, Apply Right, is your friendly map through the crazily intertwined roads of the online application.I like that Stasiuk talks to his readers patiently and politely, using lawyer-speak as little as possible and without any condescension. He provides an overview then takes you step-by-step through the application, providing guidance and helpful tips on every page.The most important thing to know is that if you apply wrong, you can really mess things up for your benefits. Why take chances like that when there's Apply Right, right here? Get it!
I would give this book a 10-star review if possible. My law firm has practiced Social Security disability law for more than 20 years. I have even written my own book about mistakes claimants make. But this is by far the most comprehensive consumer guide to the application process I have ever seen. I only wish I had written it myself. No one should apply online for Social Security disability benefits without first reading this book -- it's that important and that informative. I cannot praise Mr. Stasiuk highly enough. Buy this book!
Best viewed on a larger than tablet screen; the instructions walk you through filling out your online application for disability assistance in a step by step and easy to understand fashion. The author explains the "why" you should answer in a truthful, yet cautious manner with each of the vaguely worded questions. He restates some of them for clarity. While it may seem daunting at first, he will take you all of the way through it.
If you are applying for social security disability benefits, you cannot afford to not have this book. Tomasz really lifts the veil off of the application process. This book gives applicants a preview of what to expect when applying for benefits so that they can get it right the first time. This book takes the applicant through an online application and explains the questions and implications every step of the way.
I needed a clear, easy to follow, illustrated guide to filing for SSDI that my post-stroke brain could handle. After a ridiculous amount of confusing and repetitive paperwork for other disability carriers from my employer and credit unions, I was really dreading the horror maze of applying for SSDI, getting turned down, and having to go through an appeal process. My LTD carrier referred me to a company that files for you (using the research and gathered data YOU provide them) and charges your LTD $7000 to submit the application and only checks on it every month. Are you kidding me??? No way was I adding the stress of dealing with a third party.Using this book, I filed for SSDI online on May 26 and received my approval on September 2. I'll even do the math for you: that is three months and seven days for approval the first time around with no legal or other assistance. The book made it so easy to complete each step in order and the illustrations guaranteed I was in the right place, providing all the necessary information. And because of the confidence I got from the book, I also had no problem calling my local SSA office and following up what they had, needed, or had lost in their own system. If I had just sat home waiting for my claim to be denied or for some over-paid company to take (by their estimate) 9-12 months minimum to get me a response, then I would be echoing all the SSDI horror stories most people believe. Instead, this book let me take charge of my claim by giving me the confidence that I could go through this process by myself and control as much as possible of the "waiting" period.This literally is some of the best money I ever spent and, in hindsight, I would have gladly paid 100 times what I did. I highly recommend this book for anyone attempting to file for SSDI themselves and would also pass on the advice to give SSA more than you think they need so they don't delay you asking for more information. This is a simple step by step guide on applying for social security benefits that guides you through the process in an easy format as to what paperwork you will need to apply. Other books I found helpful that are found on are: NOLO'S Guide to SSD by David Morton III MD and Disability Workbook for Social Security Applicants by Douglas M Smith Attorney at Law. Applying for and receiving benefits you paid into are usually denied the first time. My best advise read as much as you can and get an attorney!!
