I've become a little discouraged about ordering Ukulele books without being able to look at them first, but this one was a winner. It contained songs that were familiar, and best of all, explained how I can play any song "Fingerstyle" by using the methodology described in the book. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who desires to expand their expertise to include fingerstyle solos.
The arrangements are all very basic to play, even though some are called "advanced". The chords used rarely get above the 5th fret and are mostly not very "jazzy". The vast majority of the chords are incomplete 3-note chords when the full 4-note chords sound much better and aren't much more difficult to play. I am certainly not an advanced ukulele player, but I was disappointed that these arrangements did not offer me any challenge. If you are a beginner or very low intermediate player, the book might be useful.
The recorded versions on the CD are pretty slow, and don't have a lot of feeling to them. They are good to hear the notes/arrangements pretty clearly, but not how you would want to perform them. Overall, a good 101 book to get you started playing some known songs on the ukulele and learn some of the chords and notes in the process.
This helped me with sight-reading music for the ukelele. But it's kind of basic and I was looking, I guess, for more theory on how and where to use chords or create chords for different songs.
