It is a bit small (10 and 1/2 x 7 ") and Schirmer tempos are not necessarily correct, but the Hal Leonard vocal / piano reduction is good; playable and prepares the company for the orchestra when it arrives. Very reasonable price.
So, something I never knew, because I've only seen and heard this performed before... there are two songs in here containing the "n" word. This shouldn't come as a surprise given the times when this was written, but you should be aware before just casually singing through for your kids. This does contain both the words and the music, very useful.
This is the most widley used book and not that expensive so Isuggest if you are in the show and don't have a huge part, (ie theChorus) to use this book. It is easy to read and has all of the samethings as most of the others, I just got done using it and was verypleased.
Being a serious fan of Gilbert and Sullivan's work and a performer in several of their collaborations, this is a wonderful score. It has every piece of dialogue, every song, and a great cover. If you are ever going to be in a production of 'The Mikado', buy this score!
Probably the most popular printed score of The Mikado, this G. Schirmer edition has been used for years and years by hundreds of amateur and professional groups in presenting the opera. All the music is contained here for piano and voice. The piano part is NOT EASY; it very closely follows Sullivan's originals. I particulary enjoy reading along with it when I listen to a recording.
IT IS NOT THE VOCAL SCORE!
I love this version and so do the other members of our production. Very easy to read, and the background information is very helpful to understand and apply this into the performance.
Just the words and dialog, no music. Gives you the show in a compact form. Print is readable. Layout is good. Paper is thick enough to stand up to lots of use.
