With their formal and stylistic perfection, they are among the most valuable of the late-Romantic additions to piano repertoire. Included in this 128-page edition are 30 pieces by Brahms, preceded by a helpful introduction which contains definitions of the ballade, rhapsody, capriccio and intermezzo.

I was looking for a book with the beautiful Intermezzo in A major and this book had it. I thought shorter works would be good to tackle myself and maybe for students
I have been looking for a certain Brahms piece, and, thanks to another reviewer, learned it was in this book. I promptly ordered it. I'm thrilled to have found this book, so reasonablly priced too. My only complaint is that the book came creased and appeared a bit shop-worn. Since it's not a gift, but for me, I decided not to contact ---my books tend to get worn anyway.

The sheet music has great preface which gave a in-depth background on Brahms' creative life and motif on these pieces. The pedal points are very helpful!
I like this edition because of the research and the fingering they provide. This particular edition, dedicated to Brahms shorter pieces is particularly enlightening with reference to fingering his piano pieces. I think the editor has done a superb job.
